19 year old, Lebogang Phiri, came on as a second half substitute and scored to give Brondby IF an emphatic 2-0 win over Silkeborg IF on Monday night. The hard working former Bidvest Wits midfielder played an instrumental role in two of the top plays of match.
Phiri’s first highlight of the game showcased his defensive and offensive awareness with the interception of a loose pass deep in his own half before launching a counter-attack for his side.
Phiri carried the ball nearly 60 yards before finding Simon Makienok, who forced a fingertip save from the opposition keeper.
Deep into referee’s optional time, Phiri once again found himself on the right end of an intercepted pass, this time in the opposition half with only only three defenders behind the ball.
Phiri then delivered an inch-perfect pass to Ferhan Hasani, who was storming down the right flank. Hasani immediately returned the favour by playing a square pass across the face of goal for Phiri to give Brondy their second goal of the match.
